Oscar winner 2011 Randy Newman photo ,video, nomination list

(CBS) Randy Newman won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "We Belong Together" from "Toy Story 3." It was his 20th Oscar nomination and second win. As he quipped, "My percentages aren't great."

He then went on to give perhaps the funniest speech of the night and was arguably funnier than hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway. (Maybe Newman should host in 2012.)

"I want to be good television so badly," said Newman. "I've been on this show a number of times and I've slowed it down almost every time."

He complained that the Academy should nominate five songs in the Best Original Song category (there were four) before changing his mind, suggesting that a fifth song may have beaten him.

Newman last won the Academy Award for the song "I Didn't Have You" from "Monsters Inc."

Berlusconi to face trial over prostitution scandal

MILAN (Reuters) - An Italian judge has ordered Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to stand trial in April on a charge that he paid an underage girl for sex, though there seemed no immediate risk the scandal would force him from office.

Following weeks of scandal that have shaken his struggling centre-right government, trial was set on Tuesday to start in a criminal court in Milan on April 6, according to a statement from the office of the city's chief judge, Christina Di Censo.

Berlusconi is not obliged to appear in person before the panel of three judges on that day, nor is there any legal obstacle to his continuing to hold office throughout any trial proceedings, which could take years before any conviction.

Throughout several other legal cases, the 74-year-old premier has kept the loyalty of lieutenants in his own party, which he set up after making his fortune in business. There has been no open push from his own allies for him to stand down.

"We did not expect anything different," Piero Longo, one of Berlusconi's lawyers who sits in parliament for the ruling PDL party, told reporters after the decision was announced.

Yet the decision is perhaps the most serious political blow so far to Berlusconi, who has faced mounting public criticism as he tries to shore up a precarious majority in parliament.

A survey this week in the left-leaning La Repubblica newspaper showed that almost 50 percent of Italians believe the accusations against him are true, although as many believe that even if he is guilty, he will not be punished.

"He should go before the judges to defend himself like anyone else who doesn't have anything to hide and spare the country the spectacle before the world of a prime minister on trial for juvenile prostitution and abuse of office," said Dario Franceschini a senior member of the opposition Democratic Party.

RUBY AFFAIR

Italian media have been dominated for weeks by the alleged prostitution affair, which turns on the case of a teenaged Moroccan nightclub dancer named Karima el Mahroug, whose stage name Ruby has become a household term in Italy.

Prosecutors say they have ample evidence that Berlusconi paid el Mahroug for sex when she was under 18 -- an offence in Italy -- and also telephoned a police station to pressure officers to release her after she was held on theft allegations.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of 3 years for underage prostitution and 12 years for abuse of office.

She denies having sex with Berlusconi but admits receiving at least 7,000 euros ($9,500) after attending a party at the premier's luxurious private residence at Arcore near Milan.

Berlusconi has denied doing anything illegal in the case and says he has been targeted by politically motivated judges backed by the left who are determined to bring him down.

He says he has never paid for sex and says that when he telephoned the Milan police station it was because he believed el Mahroug to be the granddaughter of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and he wanted to avoid a diplomatic incident.

"I believe there is very precise and significant evidence to show that there was no abuse of office offence and no offence regarding sexual acts with a minor and incidentally it seems very much open to debate whether this girl was a minor at all," said Maurizio Paniz, a lawyer and senior PDL deputy.

On Tuesday, Berlusconi pulled out of a news conference that was scheduled to discuss Tunisian refugees arriving in Sicily.

SPECIAL TRIBUNAL

The constitutional court last month removed the automatic immunity from trial that Berlusconi had previously enjoyed. The prime minister is also due to face trial in three unrelated embezzlement and fraud trials in the coming weeks.

But Tuesday's decision may be only one step in a lengthy legal battle, of which many have marked Berlusconi's career.

His lawyers argue the case should be heard by a special tribunal for ministers. They have 30 days to appeal the decision to skip a preliminary hearing and go straight to trial.

The prime minister's legal problems have added a complicating factor to a political situation that was already tangled by a split in the PDL last year.

The government survived a no-confidence motion in parliament in December by a small margin. Since then, however, Berlusconi has gradually built up support by winning over deputies from smaller centrist parties and splinter formations.

There has been widespread speculation that Italy will have to hold early elections, possibly in the coming months although Berlusconi said on Monday he was confident he had enough support in parliament to see out his full term to 2013.

On Sunday, hundreds of thousands of women across Italy demonstrated against the prime minister and the opposition has called on Berlusconi to resign and either give way to another centre-right leader or seek early elections.

Rocco Buttiglione, a member of the centrist UDC party, said the political situation had become "intolerable" and Berlusconi had become a problem for the whole country:

"Berlusconi has become a symbol of national division."

serene branson video

A little known TV reporter has shot to popularity but for the wrong reason. Serene Branson, a reporter for CBS Channel 2 in Los Angeles, experienced the nightmare that haunts every broadcast journalist - mangled speech - while reporting live from the Grammys.

After Branson's struggle with an apparent tongue tie went on air, media as well as the internet was buzzing with possible causes behind the incident. While some speculated that the reporter might have been hitting the bottle, there were other reports that Branson might have had a stroke while on air.

The network, however, released a statement on Branson's condition stating that there was nothing physically wrong with the reporter and that she had said that she was fine the next morning.

"Serene Branson was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast. Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized. As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home and she says that she is feeling fine this morning," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the field reporte

also took to Twitter to clarify that "it was just the nerves."

"Oh my! Serene Branson is trending? I'm sorry, it was just the nerves," Branson posted on the microblogging site after her nephews created a Twitter account for her on finding that Serene Branson was among the trending topics.

The reporter also tried to dispel the rumors that she was in hospital and urged the people to "stop these rumors."

CBS-2 site introduces the reporter as, "Serene is a two time Emmy nominee and the recipient of the Frank Shakespeare Award for Outstanding Achievement in Journalism. Born and raised in the Los Angeles area and proud Bruin, Serene is thrilled to be reporting on stories in her hometown."

CBS has taken down all footage of Branson's gibberish, even from its own websites. Few clips have managed to survive on YouTube, but most likely will not last long:

The rock wwe : The Rock Returns To WWE, Will Host Wrestlemania [video]

On Monday evening, many Twitter users may have found the hugely popular microblogging site to be “over capacity.”

We likely have pro wrestling fans to blame for that.

Last night on WWE Monday Night Raw, film star and former professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made an unexpected return to WWE television programming on USA network after seven years away from the sport that made him famous.

Shortly after 11:00 pm EST the social media world exploded with talk of Dwayne Johnson returning to WWE.

But Johnson himself was largely responsible for whipping up the social media frenzy. For the first time in WWE programming history, a superstar’s personal Facebook page was promoted live during the broadcast. For Johnson, the social media plug brought his WWE return full circle.

On Monday afternoon, the WWE legend himself teased his return with a cryptic Facebook post that told WWE fans to “get ready.”

Dwayne Johnson returns to WWE to serve as a special “guest host” of WWE’s annual sports entertainment pay-per-view extravaganza known as WrestleMania, which will take place on April 3rd at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

WrestleMania XXVII will be broadcast in more than 80 countries around the world.

Sports illustrated swimsuit 2011 sexy node photo and video

Brad Womack summed it up quite succinctly when he said, "It's almost like I'm watching the girls become very competitive," at this week's group date on 'The Bachelor' (Mon, 8PM ET on ABC).

We're not sure what they expected to happen by having the date be themed around a 'Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition' photo shoot. Does no one realize what happens when those models pose for the magazine? Half the time, tops come off.

In this case, two of the three girls lost their tops, which left Michelle scrambling to find a different way to show them up in front of Brad and make sure she left a lasting impression. After all, they'd each left two very strong impressions.

Michelle went for leaving an impression in the sand by suggesting she do a photo shoot mounted on top of Brad on the beach. Plastering her body against his, she made it as passionate as she could, while the other two girls stood by uncomfortably.

When it comes to competitive girls, you have to wonder how much of Michelle's actions was based on genuine interest in Brad, and how much of it was in generating a response out of the other two girls. See, 'The Bachelor' does show how messy and complicated love can be.

jadeveon clowney : Now comes tough part for Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney, Jadeveon Clowney.

Twice. Dos veces for those of you who are bilingual - or not.

It was just on two occasions that I had the name "Jadeveon Clowney" slip through my lips after making the proclamation almost two weeks ago that I would try and refrain from stating his name in the same manner of the college football head coaches who had recruited him so hard as he decided to wait until his birthday - also known as Valentine's Day - to announce his choice of colleges.

Not that I didn't talk about him enough. When the No. 1 recruit in the country is deciding between the two major schools in the state, he waits an extra 12 days longer than practically everyone else to announce his decision and your job is writing about sports, you're going to be asked questions.

And I did a good job of referring to Clowney as "the player whose name I can't mention." The two times when I did say his name weren't moments of weakness where I just had to feel the silkiness of those syllables sliding gently across my lips.

To put it simply, the respective deeds happened when I let my guard down. It happened when I was talking to my mother and then to my wife.

My mother was just trying to engage in a little sports small talk, asking me about Clowney and then not being able to remember his name. Being the good son I am, I quickly supplied her with the name. Dadgummit! Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.

With my wife, I had been outside talking to my next-door neighbor, came in the house and she started asking me what I had been doing. Upon telling her what I had been doing, she asked me what we were talking about. Tired of being grilled, I inadvertently let the name come out. Dadgummit! Forgive me Father, for I have sinned - again.

By the way, honey! Valentine's Day was great!

Of course, on Monday Clowney announced his decision to attend the University of South Carolina after Clemson made a late run at attaining his services. Now comes the hard part for the defensive end from South Pointe High School in Rock Hill - living up to all of the hype created both by the media and by Clowney himself.

When you're crowned the No. 1 recruit in the country, as was the case with the 6-foot-6-inch, 250-pound Clowney, the expectations are going to be off the chart. Those aren't expectations Clowney placed on himself, someone else did that to him, thus people will show some leniency if he struggles in the early going.

However, with his decision to hold out almost two more weeks before announcing, Clowney placed himself on a pedestal. He was able to hold sway over thousands of people with that move, but he better hope he can continue to do that with his play. His decision to wait likely took away good will for some people. They will truly expect Clowney to produce immediately, no questions asked.

Now, from what's been seen of Clowney, it looks as though he can make that step from high school to Southeastern Conference football without a problem. However, sometimes the talent gets lost in the translation from prep football to college football, just as it does from college to the NFL.

All of that being said, Carolina fans have every reason to be excited about having Clowney in the fold. His decision to attend USC puts even more of a spotlight on the program and shows it can compete for the top recruits in the country.

If Clowney lives up to the hype and the program comes along for the ride, Gamecock Nation's dreams will have been met.

Now comes the fun part.

mtsu shooting : Shooting at Middle Tennessee State University

mtsu shooting : MURFREESBORO — For 41 minutes Monday afternoon, students across the Middle Tennessee State University campus knew only that there was a shooter on the loose.

In Jared Ongie's speech class, he and five other guys in the back of the room talked quietly, but seriously, about a plan to rush the shooter if he somehow broke through the classroom's locked door. Some joked. Some cried. Some called their moms.

Students and professors were warned of the shooter via text message. Soon, Twitter and Facebook lit up.

From 12:19 p.m. to 1 p.m. on a sunny Valentine's Day, students and professors at MTSU had no idea what was going on around them, and so they couldn't help but expect the worst.

Turns out, police said, a 20-year-old MTSU junior, Justin Macklin, had pulled out a revolver during a dispute with former student Austin Morrow, also 20, and shot at the ground. The bullet ricocheted off the concrete outside the Keathley University Center and struck Morrow on his thumb, MTSU Police Chief Buddy Peaster said.

After being shot, Morrow chased Macklin into the Business and Aerospace Building, and a police search soon got under way.

Corinne Neal, 19, a business and finance major, was working with a communications professor in her office when other professors ran down the hallway telling people to close and lock their doors. There was a shooter on campus.

Neal and her professor locked the door to the small office and turned out the lights to make it look as if no one was inside.

Then they held hands and prayed.

"I was thinking, 'Oh my God. Virginia Tech,' " she said of the April 2007 campus shooting that killed 32 people and injured many others.

After the shooting, police say, Macklin tried to hide in a classroom building, but police surrounded the building and arrested him when he tried to leave. Peaster said the weapon, a .32-caliber revolver, and two bags of marijuana were found in the building.

Police were questioning Macklin and Morrow late Monday. No one had been charged.

After those paralyzing 41 minutes, the school sent out an "all clear" text message.

"Now we know it was an isolated argument," said Ongie, 23, a mass communications major. "But when you're in the moment, it's pretty terrifying."

Earlier in the day, Neal had looked forward to a Valentine's Day dinner out.

After 1 p.m., she craved a quiet night at home.

esperanza spalding : Video Bassist Esperanza Spalding Scores Best New Artist Grammy

Esperanza Spalding, who set legions of tweenyboppers a-howl by beating out Justin Bieber for the Best New Artist Grammy, is one of Greenwich Village's best-kept secrets.

A jazz composer with an angelic soprano voice who plays an upright bass, she mixes neosoul, bossa nova and funk into her jazz grooves.

Spalding's heritage is as exotic as her music: She was raised in Portland, Oregon, by a single mom and calls herself a mixture of black American, Welsh, Latino and Native American. She sings in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

"She's the real deal. She's not candy. She doesn't just look good and have a team of producers behind her. This is a real musician," said Tommy Igoe, the virtuoso drummer who leads the Birdland Big Band on 44th St.

"Seeing a woman playing an acoustic bass is not something you see all the time, and to see her sing and play the bass - I can't tell you what a unique and amazing combination that is. We see one of these come along only once in a while, someone with such talent that they can cross over into the pop culture."

Spalding, 25, is the first jazz singer to ever win the new artist award.

"I certainly did not expect to even be considered for that type of nomination," she said yesterday on her website. "Me being a little old jazz musician and everything."

While she may be unknown to Bieber's fans - who flooded Twitter with spluttering outrage and vandalized her Wikipedia page - Spalding is a star in the jazz world who has been garnering praise from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock for years.

She recently toured with Prince, and President Obama chose her to perform when he accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009. Spalding says she first fell in love with music when she watched classical cellist Yo-Yo Ma perform on "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" when she was 4. By the following year, she had learned the violin and was playing with a chamber music society.

She played oboe and clarinet in high school before discovering the bass, and, at the tender age of 20, became the youngest-ever professor at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Her 2008 recording "Esperanza" sat atop Billboard's contemporary jazz list for 70 weeks and her "Chamber Music Society" went No. 1 last month.

Grammy-winning bassist Christian McBride defended Esperanza against the bellicose Bieberites.

"It's refreshing that someone who's so serious about the art and science of music won such a coveted award," he said. "As far as her detractors go, there's an old saying: 'When you're on top, someone's always trying to knock you down.'"

Igoe had a challenge for the boiling Bieberites: "Let's all meet back here in 20 years, and we'll see who's still doing it."

Wayne Rooney wonder goal vs. Manchester City Overhead kick video

Rooney used a spectacular bicycle kick with his back to the goal for the 2-1 win over rival Man City.

The United and England striker leaped to meet a right-wing cross with an overhead strike that flew into the top corner after 77 minutes.

"I saw it coming over and I thought why not? Nine times out of 10 they go into the stand," Rooney told Sky Sports.

Wow....what a goal by ROOOOOOONEY!!! What a way to win the derby!!" he tweeted, before adding: "That bicycle kick was one dirty strike...POW...what a strike what a goal what a netbuster!!"

Even golfers Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy, playing in the Dubai Desert Classic, commented. McIlroy simply tweeted; "BOOM!!!!!!!!"

Ferguson said the quality of the strike reminded him of United great Denis Law, who scored 171 goals in his stellar career at the club.

"It was stunning," Ferguson said. "We've had some fantastic goals here but in terms of execution ... you'll never see that.

Plane crash at Cork Airport - deaths reported news

A small aircraft carrying 12 people has crashed on the runway of Cork airport this morning. A number of fatalities are feared.

The Manx2 airline flight from Belfast to Cork reportedly overturned and caught fire when making a second attempt to land.

The plane was due to arrive in Cork at about 9.45am. There was heavy fog in the area at the time.

There were 12 people on board the plane, 10 passengers and two crew.

There are unconfirmed reports of a number of fatalities. Four people were seen walking away from the plane.

A spokesman for Dublin Airport Authority, which also operates Cork airport, confirmed the airport had been closed following a serious incident. “An incoming Manx2 aircraft crashed on the airfield on approach to landing shortly before 10am,” he said. “Fire crews are on the scene and the airport’s emergency plan has been activated.”

The Irish Aviation Authority said the plane was making its second attempt to land in "low vis conditions" when the crash occurred.

"There is a fire and debris has been scattered onto the runway and over a wide area," it said in a statement.

The Department of Transport's Air Accident Investigation Unit is on its way to investigate the incident.

Gardaí have closed South Link route between Cork airport and Cork University hospital and motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

Calif. man killed by armed bird at cockfight

news :- A Central California man who was at a cockfight died after being stabbed in the leg by a bird that had a knife attached to its own limb, officials confirmed Monday.
Jose Luis Ochoa, 35, of Lamont, was declared dead at a hospital about two hours after he was injured in neighboring Tulare County on Jan. 30, the Kern County coroner said.An autopsy concluded Ochoa died of an accidental "sharp force injury" to his right calf.
Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt said it was unclear if a delay in seeking medical attention contributed to Ochoa's death.
"I have never seen this type of incident," Sgt. Martin King, a 24-year veteran of the sheriff's department, told the Bakersfield Californian.
Ochoa and the other spectators fled when authorities arrived at the scene of the fight, King told the newspaper. Deputies found five dead roosters and other evidence of cockfighting at the location, he said.
No arrests were made at the cockfight.
Cockfighting is a sport, illegal in the United States, in which specially bred roosters are put into a ring and encouraged to fight until one is incapacitated or killed.
According to Kern County Superior Court records, Ochoa paid $370 in fines last year after pleading no contest to one count of owning or training an animal for fighting, according to the newspaper.

Attending or organizing a cockfight, or training an animal to participate in one, are all misdemeanors under California law, although a second offense is a felony.

U.S. High School Students Shot To Death In Mexico news

Students Shot To Death In Mexico news:-Three teenage boys were shot to death in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez, at least two of them U.S. citizens and high school students in Texas, authorities said Monday.

The boys were killed at 4:22 p.m. Saturday while looking at cars in a dealership in the city across the border from El Paso, Texas, Chihuahua prosecutors' spokesman Arturo Sandoval said. One was found inside a white Jeep Cherokee and the other two in the courtyard.

One of the boys, Carlos Mario Gonzalez Bermudez, 16, was a sophomore at Cathedral High School in El Paso, said Nick Gonzalez, the Roman Catholic brother who is the principal. Another victim, Juan Carlos Echeverri, 15, had been a freshman at the private all-boys Catholic school last year but left to study in Ciudad Juarez, Gonzalez said.

Both were U.S. citizens, he said. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said it could provide no immediate information on the case.

The third teenager was identified as Cesar Yalin Miramontes Jimenez, 17.

The school principal said Gonzalez Bermudez mainly lived in Ciudad Juarez and commuted each day across the border. He said 20 percent of the 485 students enrolled at Cathedral are from Ciudad Juarez.

"It's a lot of pain, a lot of sorrow, a lot of tears, a lot of coming together as a community to try to hold each other up and to try and make sense today," Gonzalez said. "How do you make sense of this meaningless tragedy? Hopefully this can really empower us to make a positive change in the border community because their deaths will have no meaning otherwise."

Many Ciudad Juarez residents travel across the border on a daily basis for work or study. Some Mexicans live in El Paso for safety reasons and commute to Ciudad Juarez.

Ciudad Juarez city has become one of the world's most dangerous cities amid a fierce turf war between the Sinaloa and Juarez drug cartels. More than 3,000 people were killed last year in the city of 1.3 million residents.

Gonzalez said students at the school have had a number of relatives killed in the violence in Ciudad Juarez. A graduate of the school was killed last fall, he said.

"Our Juarez kids knew all three" of the teenagers killed over the weekend, he said. "It's a very tight knit community. A lot of them car pool; that's how they know each other.

Glee: 'Firework' (VIDEO and lyrics),Glee – “Silly Love Songs”

Katy Perry, Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen wrote this song which was released last year in October on her "Teenage Dream" album. The music video was shot in Budapest under the direction of Dave Meyers.
The song, like Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful," encourages people to overcome their insecurities and fears and embrace their individuality.
The song was featured on the Valentine's Day "Glee" episode, "Silly Love Songs."
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down
You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

For Kennedy, who arranged the photo sessions around his hospital visits to receive chemotherapy, the images are nearly as personal as X-rays of his cancer-stricken body.
“It wasn’t planned, but they do show what I was going through,’’ Kennedy says during a lengthy, sometimes emotional interview at his Brookline apartment, which he shares with his wife, Marina, and their daughter, Misha, 5. “When I finally spread the pictures out, you could see it.’’
He pauses to sip some juice, dehydration being one side effect of the latest drug regimen he hopes will save his life. “They’re not doing happy ballet pictures,’’ he continues, alluding to the exhibit, which is scheduled to go up at Boston Ballet headquarters this spring. “They’re floating, like I was floating. You can see it in their faces.’’ Kennedy takes another swallow. “The only time I felt normal was when I was shooting.’’
Kennedy, 49, a well-known local fashion photographer, is among the hundreds of cancer patients undergoing treatment in the Boston area at any given time. His yearlong battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, first diagnosed in January 2010, at an advanced (Stage 4) level, is unremarkable in that sense. Many other cancer patients and their loved ones have become achingly familiar with drugs such as Rituxan and Methotrexate, seen once-taut bodies swell while taking steroids, agonized over CAT scans and MRIs, and relied on potent pain medications to get them through another trying day.
To friends and colleagues, though, and even to doctors and nurses who have treated him, the courage, humor, and optimism Kennedy has shown is anything but ordinary.
“You fall in love with Kim’s spirit. He’s so down to earth,’’ says Shannon Allen, wife of Boston Celtics star Ray Allen, whose professional collaboration with Kennedy has blossomed into a close friendship. Allen manages the Goonies, a local rock band, and hired Kennedy to shoot the group’s latest music video, knowing every project he undertakes is complicated by his fragile health. Kennedy, says Allen, is “not only a fighter — he’s the coolest man on the planet.’’
Dr. Rodney Jamil, an oncology fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, one of three local hospitals where Kennedy has been treated, says Kennedy’s positive attitude has impressed everyone who has helped him deal with his condition. “He really encapsulates what it means to love life, to want to live,’’ says Jamil. “That’s not only what’s kept Kim going through chemotherapy; it’s also inspired me.’’
Marina Kennedy, a former professional basketball player, says her husband’s cancer has magnified every possible emotion a family can experience, from anxiety to depression to euphoria. “Behind closed doors, you see the reality. And the reality is, we’re both scared,’’ she admits. “But we’ve got to deal with this. I know from being a basketball player, you win as a team. And I hate to lose.’’

JNU Hostel Girl MMS Case

The students at the otherwise buzzing Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) are in no mood to talk about the sex CD scandal that hit headlines yesterday. The clip, which shows two students of the School of Languages at JNU indulging in sex in a Tapti Hostel room, has left JNU-ites disturbed
and tightlipped.

“What’s there to talk about? Everyone knows. Talking about it only brings embarrassment,” says a resident of Tapti Hostel, not wishing to be named. He goes on to add that the guy in the video circulated it after the girl refused to marry him.

Shrinks say it’s time youngsters realised how spur-of-the-moment actions such as this could cause irreversible damage to those involved. “In his moment of anger, a person does not realise that along with the girl’s reputation, his own life would also go down the drain,” says psychiatrist, Dr Rahul Chandhok.

Dr Deepak Raheja of the Hope Foundation says girls must never give in to requests of filming in the first instance. “People who film their partners in an objectionable position are vulnerable of going to extremes, because this is not normal behaviour, and shows a kink on their part.”

“For a person to go to this extent of revenge shows a disturbed mental state,” says Dr Chandok. Instances of sex MMSs and videos being leaked online or circulated are not new. “Even after the DPS MMS scandal, young people didn’t realise how risky it is to get filmed in such a state,” says DU student Ria Gupta.

Scandals on celluloid
Bollywood has always been quick to lap up sex scandals and turn them into blockbuster hits. The 2004 DPS sex scandal was portrayed in the 2009 Anurag Kashyap film, Dev D. Last year, Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex aur Dhokha (LSD) took a cue from the rising number of leaked MMSes doing the rounds in the country.

Next on the MMS-inspired movie list is producer Ekta Kapoor’s Ragini MMS, a paranormal sex thriller starring Kangna Ranaut. Internationally, too, movies like the teen series, American Pie, have shown instances of sex videos being leaked on university campuses.

Caught in the web
A popular but now defunct website, ihatemyexgirlfriend.com, encouraged users to post nude pictures of their ex-girlfriends to get even with them. It has now been replaced by other revenge promoting sites such as ihatemyex.com.

Other sex videos that made news
*In September 2010, a student from Rutgers University in the US jumped to his death after two classmates reportedly recorded him having sex with a man in his dorm room, and broadcast it over the internet.
*In October last year, an 18-year old engineering student at the Siliguri Polytechnic in West Bengal committed suicide when her boyfriend secretly filmed them having sex and uploaded the video on the web.
*In 2009, a girl from a leading B-school in Noida filed a case against her ex-lover, who posted their sex video on the web.
*A Bollywood starlet got embroiled in an MMS scandal in 2009 after her ex-beau, also an actor, allegedly leaked their sex video after their break-up.
*Late last year, a beauty queen from Bengaluru lodged a police complaint against her lover whom she refused to marry, as he took revenge by circulating their sex video on Youtube and mailing it to all her friends.

bleach episode 308

Gin's attempt at taking down Aizen doesn't exactly go as planned.

What They Say:
Gin recalls his past and the fateful event that led him to become a Soul Reaper serving under Aizen. Meanwhile, Aizen's overwhelming Spiritual Pressure forces Tatsuki, Keigo and the others to fall helplessly to the ground, when Ichigo finally arrives after completing his training.

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Bleach took something of an unusual turn in the prior episode when Gin ended up going after Aizen when Aizen least expected it after Gin claimed he had dealt with Rangiku. With gin having served with Aizen for so long, dealing out quite a lot of pain and hardship on others through the various fights and encounters, having him make his move like this wasn't exactly a huge surprise the moment it happened, but it wasn't one that I was sure they'd make. Having missed a large chunk of episodes between where the DVDs are at and where I picked up the simulcasts, it's hard to say exactly how clear Gin's motivations have been as he makes his move against the man he's sided with for so long.

Because of the fate that Gin is about to suffer as we see Aizen tearing him apart fairly easily, since the Hogyoku is so completely bonded to Aizen, that means we get some nice little flashback material. The relationship between Gin and Rangiku is one that definitely falls into the realm of a tragedy and bringing his end in front of her is definitely a brutal moment. Thankfully, what we avoid is a full on Gin history episode, which wouldn't be entirely bad but would slow things down, as Ichigo arrives on the scene just a moment too late to do anything about that. But with Rangiku unable to be strong enough to deal with Aizen, she can pin her hopes for some form of revenge and justice on him in dealing with Aizen.

The match between these two has certainly been built up in this arc in particular, delays and all, especially with Ichigo going through all his training in between the worlds. What he's learned there has definitely given him a different feeling now that he's in the World of the Living as even his sister can tell there's a very distinct difference between the two as Aizen exudes incredible spiritual pressure while Ichigo seemingly has none, having converted it all to another form within his body. Having Ichigo portrayed as so calm and in control, emotionless, is certainly a welcome way to handle it considering previously he was either frozen with fear or running around like mad with emotion. With so much of what Ichigo has gone through being a part of Aizen's forced evolution for him, it's hard to say just how this will play out in full, but it's not something that will end quickly or even cleanly.

In Summary:
Events in Bleach are moving a bit faster than I expected as I really thought Ichigo would spend more time in between worlds training, even as he mastered things. I figured there would be more time with Gin trying to carry through on his plan and Aizen causing more immediate damage to the World of the Living with his abilities. With everything happening there now, it'll be interesting to see just how long it takes to play out and how far Aizen will go to stop Ichigo, or to force him to evolve even more for his own plans. Gin's participation in this episode is surprisingly small, more so than I would have wanted it to be, but the lack of a full flashback episode of events and his life is definitely a positive for the show so that it can keep up a good flow is definitely a positive.

Paul Rudd In New Pornographers video

The New Pornographers' latest music video "Move" takes the formula and flips it on its ear. Taking the guise of a movie trailer for a fictional biopic formally titled "Move: The Rise and Rise of The New Pornographers," the video puts a comic twist on the classic rags to rock-n-roll-riches story.

Directed by host of WFMU's 'The Best Show' Tom Scharpling, the video is packed to the gills with celebrities including Wyatt Cenac, Horatio Sanz, Ted Leo, John Hodgman, and Donald Glover among others. If you've ever wanted to see Wyatt Cenac do cocaine off a slice of pizza or watch Kevin Corrigan play guitar with a gun, then this is the music video for you. True to trailer form, the video comes attached with another trailer for a film entitled "Expectant Dads," starring Paul Rudd and Bill Hader as two extreme coin collectors who find themselves inexplicably pregnant.

Current TV reportedly welcoming Keith Olbermann

Keith Olbermann, who recently left his "Countdown" show on MSNBC, will reportedly announce his next gig on Tuesday (Feb. 8). The New York Times is reporting he is headed to the public affairs channel Current TV.

Current TV is a media company that went on the air in August 2005. It counts former Vice President Al Gore and businessman Joel Hyatt as its leaders and 10% of the company is owned by Comcast. A source tells the NYT that Olbermann would have an equity stake in the station. There is no word yet on what exactly his new program will be.

As Current TV is mostly owned by private individuals, it would afford Olbermann more leeway in espousing whatever views he sees fit. On the other hand, it's only available in about 60 million homes, as opposed to MSNBC's 85 million.

Current TV's biggest headlines to date have been the 2009 imprisonment of journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling in North Korea that lasted from March until August of 2009.

Are you excited that Olbermann has a new TV gig? Check your local listings to see if you get Current TV.

Tabitha Taylor or Joan Rivers? Who’s the new Go Daddy girl?

Tabitha Taylor or Joan Rivers? Who’s the new Go Daddy girl? (see ad)

On Sunday, in a widely viewed Super Bowl commercial, the new, hot Go Daddy girl was unveiled, and to the surprise of many, it came down to actress and model Tabitha Taylor and over-the-top comedian Joan Rivers.

The spot shows the body of a curvaceous young woman using a computer, but her head remains in the shadows -- until her face is lit and reveals the woman to be Rivers.

In actuality, Rivers didn’t get a complete body overhaul for the gig, but instead -- through the magic of television and computer editing -- her head was placed atop Tabitha Taylor’s body.

Babble.com reports that Taylor, 25, has been a guest star in a number of TV shows and films, but is best known for a Go Daddy commercial in 2009 in which she shares the spotlight with race car driver Danica Patrick.

This story was written by CBS News' Connie Young in Beijing.

In the last act of Swan Lake, the Black Swan must perform 32 fouettes -- in other words, spin 32 times on one toe and do it gracefully.

Zhao Ruheng, China's star dancer in the 1960s, surpassed that count and made it to 35. It is one of the most difficult and famous finales in ballet, and the last Western ballet Zhao would ever perform before China's Cultural Revolution drew the curtain on her career as a dancer.

"My teacher stood below the stage because she was afraid I would fall. I kept turning and they were shocked," Zhao says of her final act in 1963.

Zhao, now retired at 66, was one of China's first prima ballerinas. At the age of 11, she began her career when the Beijing Dance Academy scouted her hometown in the northern port city of Tianjin in search of young talent. She soon graduated with the first class at the National Ballet of China, the country's premier ballet company, founded in 1959.

"The history of ballet in China is not long, but it has gone through a lot because China is not like other countries. Its history has made us

who we are. We did not replicate the West. Chinese ballet tells its own stories," Zhao tells CBS News.

Along with performing traditional Western ballets -- Swan Lake and Sylvia, for instance -- the company also references the country's tumultuous history through performances of distinctly Chinese shows like the "Red Detachment of Women" and "Raise the Red Lantern."

"The first time we performed outside of China was in Burma in 1961. It was an amazing outdoor stage under the big golden spires," Zhao recalls.

Although she devoted her entire life to the company, Zhao's career peaked when she was just 19, when she was named the principal dancer for Swan Lake in 1963.

"The happiest moment for a ballerina is when she is chosen to be the principle dancer. That was my greatest wish." But Zhao's luck was soon eclipsed by Mao's fervor to uproot longstanding cultural, economic and social norms in China. Ten days after Zhao's first performance of Swan Lake, the Cultural Revolution began.

"You could say that my happiest moment quickly became my saddest moment."

During the Cultural Revolution, everything reminiscent of the West was reviled. People deemed intellectuals or bourgeois were sent to

"reeducation" camps to do hard labor. The country spiraled into complete chaos for more than a decade until Mao's death in 1976.

"It was a very stressful time. It's not like now, where young people have all these choices. We had absolutely no choice back then. We had no computer, no television and we just listened to propaganda," Zhao said, "We were not allowed to perform Swan Lake."

Many in her ballet troop became easy targets for criticism by the government, according to Zhao. Mao mobilized the Red Guards to police those who did not follow his mandate of creating a classless society.

"During the Cultural Revolution everything was regimented. We could not wear tight fitting clothes to practice. Every day before practice we would read Mao's works. After practice we would have to sing songs praising Mao." While the ballerinas practiced their form, the Red Guards stood watch.

With the frenzy of the Cultural Revolution overtaking the country, the troop was ordered to perform only the Red Detachment of Women, a ballet towing the Communist Party line.

The Red Detachment remains popular in China today. Click below to watch CBS News correspondent Celia Hatton's report:

The group of dancers, musicians and actors were forced to walk from township to township, hauling their instruments and costumes on their backs. After performing in one town the ballerinas would set out on dirt roads to get to the next town by nightfall and the

routine would start all over again.

"At that time we would wear our ballet shoes performing on the snow covered ground. Today you would never think of doing such a

thing, but back then we had no choice-we had to do it."

For many in the countryside, this was their first encounter to the traditionally western art form. The ballerina's wore cotton peasant clothes and danced in their hand-crafted ballet slippers that their Russian teachers taught them how to make.

"In every town 20,000 to 30,000 people sat below the stage and watched us perform in the freezing cold weather," Zhao said,

"It was all outdoors in the light of day."

These poor working conditions along with the long treks from one township to the next eventually led to the demise of Zhao's

dancing career. By 1971, Zhao had permanently injured her right leg.

"My injury ultimately was the embodiment of that time. I had become a sacrifice of the Cultural Revolution," said Zhao, who underwent two operations to save her leg-both attempts were unsuccessful.

Despite the dark past of the National Ballet of China, Zhao speaks with pride about the troop's contribution to the world of ballet and the respect it has gained from performing original works expressing China's history.

"The other lasting memory in my career was in 2008 to2009. This feeling of being respected and compared to the English National

Ballet and Paris Opera Ballet was a very proud moment for me," Zhao said, "Looking back it now, you could say it was fate."

google games | google pacman | google doodle | doodle, google logo

news:-We have lost count on how many times Google have used a Doodle as their log to celebrate an event; today is no exception and celebrates the birthday of Jules Verne. Most doodles are just plain logos, but this one is different, as it is an interactive one and shows of what is considered his greatest work “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.”

If you visit the Google homepage today you will see the new interactive doodle and notice that there is a lever to the right and the logo with portholes. This is actually a submarine and the lever its control stick. You can move the stick, which in turn moves the underwater vessel, showing you some creatures from under the see.

Those who have an iPhone or iPad can just tilt their device to move the submarine, this is fun at first, but we got bored after the first minute. I have to say that although this is a nice interactive Google Doodle, there have been better in the past – the PacMan one being the best of the lot.

You have to ask yourself who in Google chooses what event is worthy of a Doodle? There have been a number of occasions when we had assumed that one was going to appear, and it did not. I cannot even remember seeing anything over the holiday season, why was that?

What do you think of today’s Google Doodle?
